The drive into Lincoln was a teaser reel for what was coming. Flat, golden plains rolled by under a blazing sun, and every few miles, we’d spot a Corvette prowling the highway—some vintage, some brand-spanking-new—like they were daring us to keep up. By the time we rolled into the show, the air was thick with engine growls and the promise of corvette greatness. The venue was Corvette perfect: rows upon rows of gleaming machines stretching out like a motordroid’s fever dream.
Jeff and I piled into the car—armed with water bottles, and a whole lot of testosterone—and pointed ourselves toward Lincoln, Nebraska, for the 2024 Nebraska Corvette Association’s All Corvette Car Show. It was a total blast, even if the heat tried to melt us into the asphalt. But that’s the life of a car show motordroid—sweating it out for the love of horsepower and shiny paint.
The Nebraska Corvette Association had the whole thing dialed in, and one of the coolest touches was how they organized the cars by generation. Each row was like a chapter in the Corvette story. You’d start with the OGs—the C1s from the ’50s and early ’60s, all curves and chrome, with those iconic round taillights. There was a ’57 in turquoise that looked like it rolled straight out of a soda fountain ad—pure nostalgia fuel. Then you’d move to the C2 row, where the ’63 Sting Rays stole the show with their split rear windows and that aggressive, shark-like stance. Jeff was drooling over a ’65 convertible with a 327 V8 that purred like it was still 25 years old.
The C3s were next, and that’s where I got stuck—a candy-apple red with those swoopy fenders and T-tops had me dreaming of cruising it back to my house. The C4s brought some ’80s flair with sharper edges, and the C5s and C6s upped the tech game, all sleek and modern. By the time we hit the C7 and C8 rows, it was like staring at spaceships—those 2024 models with their mid-engine layouts and razor-sharp lines looked ready to launch.
But let’s talk about the heat for a sec. It was brutal—like, “fry an egg on the hood” brutal. The sun was relentless, turning every chrome bumper into a blinding beacon and every black leather interior into a torture device. We were chugging water like it was our job, and I’m pretty sure I saw a mirage of a Tesla Cybertruck at one point. But that’s the car show life, right? You take the sweat with the shine, and us motordroids wouldn’t have it any other way.
The association pulled out all the stops beyond the cars, too. Food trucks were slinging smoky barbecue and cold treats, a live band was rocking some classic tunes, and the crowd was a mix of hardcore collectors, casual fans, and kids running around with toy Corvettes.
Jeff and I did our usual dance of picking favorites—him swooning over anything with a futuristic edged, me drooling over raw, vintage muscle. The ride home was a sweaty debrief of our dream garage lineups, and we’re still not in agreement.
The 2024 All Corvette Car Show was a sweaty, glorious ode to automotive history, and Lincoln played the perfect host. If you’re a fellow motordroid—or just love a good time—put this one on your radar for next year. Jeff’s already scheming about which Corvette he’d roll up in if he ever scores one. Me? I’m just here for the ride, heat and all.
